Patient & Provider Perspectives on the 2020 Health Care for Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Nonconforming People: Guidelines for the Northwest Territories

Northern Mosaic Network has partnered with researchers from the University of Manitoba to conduct a study reviewing the Health Care for Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Nonconforming People: Guidelines for the Northwest Territories and, based on feedback from both patients and providers, develop recommendations to improve this document and reduce barriers to accessing gender affirming and transition-related care in the NWT. We’re working with Dr. Nathan Nickel, Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba, and researcher Mikayla Hunter, a PhD candidate at the University of Manitoba.

Interviews and focus groups have been completed and we are no longer recruiting study participants.

Ethics approval for this study has been granted by the University of Manitoba Health Research Ethics Board and the Northwest Territories Government – Department of Education, Culture and Employment. Patients and caregivers recieved an honorarium for their participation. For questions about the study, please reach out to Mikayla Hunter (she/they) mikayla.hunter@umanitoba.ca, or Emily Smith (she/her) coordinator@northernmosaic.net
